Hello Anne. You’re very welcome. We like to let our readers know in advance of upcoming events so we will do our best.

The shop is opposite Göç İdaresi İlçe Müdürlüğü in Fethiye. There are suitcases outside waiting to be repaired. Here’s a link to Göç in Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/b9hDvH8o1jMJmcx29

We hope you find it ok.

Warm regards

Lyn 🧿

Thank you for your recent Facebook post about helping Fethiye residents to find out about forthcoming events, me being one such resident.
Today, you have posted about a Gömbe sandalmaker in Fethiye town. Please can you send me a Google pin location so I can visit his workshop. Thank you, Anne Anderson.

Comment on Turkish fish cakes with preserved lemon yogurt by Lyn Ward https://fethiyetimes.com/turkish-fish-cakes-with-preserved-lemon-yogurt/#comment-54959 Mon, 06 Oct 2025 16:20:36 +0000 https://fethiyetimes.com/?p=24139#comment-54959 In reply to Anna Anderson.

In Turkey, you can substitute cod or haddock with other white fish like sea bass, flounder, or sea bream (gilt-head bream) to maintain a similar flaky texture. More local options include whiting or hake (a member of the cod family). We can’t recommend a particular stall on the Fethiye fish market as it is better to check out the fish available on the day. The stallholders are all friendly and helpful and will also clean the fish for you if required.

Best regards 🧿

Please can you tell me the most used name for haddock and cod in Turkish and also a recommended stall in the fish market in Fethiye where I can buy this type of fish. Thank you 🙏

Comment on Discover Turkey: hiking the ways and trails by Lyn Ward https://fethiyetimes.com/discover-turkey-hiking-the-ways-and-trails/#comment-51704 Mon, 01 Sep 2025 16:07:17 +0000 https://fethiyetimes.com/?p=1873#comment-51704 In reply to Thomas.

Due to ongoing high temperatures and increased forest fire risk, entering forested areas along the Lycian Way is prohibited from June 15 to October 31 in the Muğla region and other parts of Turkey. Hikers should expect extremely hot weather, dry conditions, and the possibility of encountering authorities like the Gendarmes who enforce these closures, so postponing your trip to November or a later date is strongly recommended.

On several online forums we found that access to the forest is prohibited due to fires. Does this mean that the Lycian Way is closed? Or is it still possible to hike it?

In addition, I would like to point out a website dedicated specifically to doctors in Turkey – http://www.medinturkey.de. It is a helpful resource for travelers who also wish to make use of medical services
