2. Ilkley Pool and Lido, West Yorkshire

Surrounded by the rolling landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales, Ilkley Pool and Lido offers one of the country’s most picturesque swimming experiences. Opened in 1935 and now Grade II listed, its distinctive mushroom-shaped design has made it a local favourite for generations.

7. Jesus Green Lido, Cambridge

At 100 yards (91.4 metres), it shares the title of the UK’s longest outdoor pool, with its distinctive narrow design inspired by the river that flows alongside it.

After completing a few lengths, visitors can unwind in the picnic areas or enjoy a session in the on-site sauna before heading into the city.
