Autism Park to be implemented in Fethiye
Fethiye Municipality is establishing an Autism Centre where children with autism living in Fethiye can spend time, increase their social activities, and receive education under the supervision of experts.
Deputy Mayor Oğuz Bolelli and municipal officials held a meeting with Mete Group Chairman Niyazi Mete and carried out at inspection on the site in Akarca neighborhood where the work will begin.
In a statement made by the municipal authorities, it was announced that the construction of the park will begin in the first week of February.

Injured dolphin could not be saved despite all efforts
Citizens and Municipality teams worked for hours to save a dolphin that washed ashore in Bodrum district of Muğla.
The adult dolphin was discovered to have been shot when it washed ashore in Yahşi District Kargı Bay. Citizens walking on the beach noticed the animal when their dogs gathered around the dolphin. Realizing that the animal was alive, citizens tried unsuccessfully to pull the dolphin back into the sea. The dolphin, which had suffered further injuries on the rocks whilst stranded, remained washed up on the beach.
Despite all efforts, the dolphin could not be saved.
Municipality teams removed the dolphin to be buried in a suitable place.

Banks to stop the use of 10 TL banknotes in their ATMs
High inflation in Türkiye has reduced the value of money, making the amount of money in ATMs insufficient causing many banks to stop the use of 10 TL banknotes in their ATMs.
According to Halktv, Şenol Babuşçu, former deputy general manager of Ziraat Bank, explained the reason for the change as follows:
“Recently, a critical change has been made in banks due to the use of a large number of 200 lira bills and the complete loss of purchasing power of 10 TL. Banks are having difficulty in transferring money to ATMs. For this reason, they removed 10 TL banknotes from ATMs.”
According to experts, this situation shows that inflation is a serious problem in Türkiye.
Türkiye hails discovery of endangered leopard barbel fish
Türkiye on Thursday hailed the unexpected sighting of the leopard barbel fish — listed as one of the most endangered in the world — in the Tigris River.
Environmentalists say the spotted carp-like fish was last seen in the wild more than a decade ago and was feared to have become extinct.
Türkiye’s Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Yumakli called the leopard barbel “one of the 10 most sought-after fish in the world”.
The discovery “is good news for the protection and development of our country’s biodiversity,” he said in a social media statement.
The fish was once abundant in the rivers of eastern Türkiye and parts of Syria and neighbouring Iran and Iraq.
Environmentalists say the fish suffered from pollution and dams set up along the Tigris and Euphrates River system to support local agriculture.

Türkiye ranks first in cigarettes smoked
Türkiye has emerged as the leading nation globally for the highest number of cigarettes smoked, earning the disconcerting distinction with 17.1 cigarettes per capita per day, according to a European Union (EU) Statistics Office report.
Türkiye ranks first in the world with 17.1 cigarettes per capita per day, followed by its neighbor Greece with 15.7 cigarettes, while this rate is 15.5 in Israel, 15.5 in Japan and 15.4 in Austria, the report said.
Meanwhile, a “Tobacco Control Plan 2018-2023” report highlights that at least one out of every four people in the total population aged 15 years and above in Türkiye smokes. According to this ratio, nearly 20 million people in the country are regular smokers.
This sobering statistic sheds light on the pervasive smoking culture in the country and emphasizes the importance of promoting a healthier lifestyle to society.
Around 2 billion people worldwide are addicted to cigarettes and other tobacco products. While trends show smoking to be on the decline globally, electronic cigarettes and vapes, advertised as an alternative to smoking regular cigarettes, are on the rise, especially among those of younger ages.
Experts warn that the chemicals in electronic cigarettes, which are perceived to be less harmful than cigarettes, are at least as harmful as those found in cigarette smoke and advise quitting rather than seeking different methods to stop smoking.
Consequently, the World Health Organization (WHO) has called for urgent action to control the use of electronic cigarettes in order to minimize harm to public health.
