MUSKİ Teams on Duty 24/7 as Heavy Rain Hits Muğla
Muğla, MUĞLA – Following the yellow code rain warning issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology for Muğla, heavy downpours have begun across the region. In response, teams from the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (MUSKİ) worked around the clock to manage the impact.
Field teams carried out out urgent interventions to clear blocked drains, rainwater lines, and streams in areas affected by intense rainfall. MUSKİ officials emphasised that crews remained on 24/7 standby to minimise flooding risks and ensure the safe flow of stormwater throughout the province.
Residents were advised to stay cautious during periods of heavy rain and report any issues through municipal hotlines.

Muğla Welcomes Its First Snowfall of the Season
Muğla’s first snowfall of the season has arrived. While lower elevations across the province experienced heavy rain, higher areas saw the precipitation turn to snow, with Göktepe Mountain in the Kavaklıdere district receiving the first significant snowfall.
The snow, welcomed with excitement by locals and nature enthusiasts, covered the summit in a crisp white layer. The drop in temperatures created postcard-like landscapes, drawing the attention of photographers eager to capture the wintry scenery.
High Peaks Around Fethiye Also Covered in Snow
As cold and rainy weather continues across the country, coastal areas maintain steady rainfall, while snow persists at higher altitudes. The mountains surrounding Fethiye have also turned white, their peaks covered in fresh snowfall that signals the arrival of winter in Muğla’s highlands.

Fethiye Saturday Market Bustles Despite Rain and Cold
Fethiye, MUĞLA – The Fethiye Saturday Market continued to operate at full pace despite rainy and cold weather conditions, attracting a large number of shoppers throughout the day.
Held weekly in the Patlangıç neighbourhood, the market drew strong interest as residents made their way through the stalls from early morning, doing their weekly shopping and comparing prices despite the damp conditions.
Vegetable prices were largely in line with previous weeks. Carrots were sold at 15 TL, lemons 40 TL, eggplants 40 TL, zucchinis 40 TL, cucumbers 30 TL, green beans 80 TL, tomatoes 30 TL, cauliflower 60 TL, cabbage 60 TL, leeks 40 TL, capia peppers 60 TL, bell peppers 40 TL, and green peppers 40 TL. At another stall, zucchinis were priced at 30 TL, while peas reached 150 TL.
Although the market was hit by intermittent showers, both producers and consumers continued shopping without interruption. Shopkeepers said they were pleased with the steady flow of visitors despite the cold, while shoppers commented that prices remained generally reasonable.
Mediterranean Monk Seal Pup Rescued by Fishermen Handed Over for Care
Marmaris, MUĞLA – A Mediterranean monk seal pup that washed ashore after a storm at Serçe Limanı, located between the Söğüt and Taşlıca neighbourhoods of Muğla’s Marmaris district, has been taken under protection by Captain Özden Selçuk and local fishermen.
After securing the pup, the fishermen handed it over to the relevant authorities. Teams from the Aquatic Products Unit of the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, along with experts from the Mediterranean Monk Seal Conservation Association, arrived at the scene and assumed responsibility for the young seal’s care.
Officials reported that the pup will be transported to a dedicated care centre in Izmir, where it will undergo rehabilitation and treatment before its potential return to the wild.

Muddy Seas and Grounded Boats in Muğla Captured from the Air
Marmaris, MUĞLA – Muddy seas in Muğla were captured from the air after intense rainfall and storms battered the Marmaris district for two consecutive days. A tour boat that ran aground after striking a pier was among the scenes recorded from above.
Rain, which has been impacting Marmaris intermittently since midnight, continued through the morning. Yesterday’s severe storm caused four tour boats to run aground and toppled several trees onto roads. Rural neighbourhoods were hit particularly hard, with heavy standing water accumulating on roads and agricultural fields.
As intermittent downpours persisted today, rainwater from streams and streets surged toward the coastline. Near the Kemeraltı neighbourhood Public Beach, the influx of muddy water transformed the sea into a striking brown hue. Drone pilot Resul Bulguroğlu captured dramatic aerial footage showing the sharp contrast between the clear sea and the mud-heavy water flowing from the streams.
Among the four tour boats affected — Granitsa, Kastabos, Wiseone, and Demir-1 — the Demir-1 ran aground in the Uzunyalı area after hitting a pier during the storm. Bulguroğlu’s drone footage showed the vessel lying on its side along the shoreline.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties occurred. Inspections revealed no marine pollution caused by the stranded boats. The vessels will be removed once weather conditions stabilise and it is safe to do so.
With rain and storm conditions expected to continue, officials urged residents throughout the district to remain vigilant and exercise caution.

Seven Killed, 11 Injured in Deadly Bus–Lorry Collision on Southern Motorway
Osmaniye, TURKEY – Seven people were killed and 11 others injured early Saturday when an intercity bus collided with a lorry on a southern Turkey motorway, according to the Osmaniye governor’s office.
The crash took place before dawn on the highway connecting Adana and Gaziantep. According to initial information shared by Anadolu Agency (AA), the accident occurred when a long-distance coach slammed into the rear of an articulated lorry that had stopped on the road after one of its tyres burst.
Footage from the scene showed the front right side of the bus completely destroyed, crushed beneath the back of the lorry roughly 90 kilometres west of Gaziantep.
The Osmaniye governor’s office reported that all of the victims — both the deceased and the injured — were passengers or staff on the bus. Efforts to formally identify those who lost their lives are ongoing.
The lorry driver survived the collision and has been detained for questioning. Police closed the affected section of the motorway as emergency teams worked at the scene and launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

5,000-Year-Old Human-Carved Caves in Hasankeyf Set to Open for Tourism
Hasankeyf, BATMAN – A total of 10 human-carved caves estimated to be around 5,000 years old are preparing to open to tourists in the Hasankeyf district of Batman, as part of a broader initiative to revitalise the region’s extensive cultural heritage.
Hasankeyf, perched along the Tigris River and boasting 12,000 years of continuous settlement, has hosted many great civilisations, including the Byzantines, Sassanians, Umayyads and Ottomans. Today, it remains a significant attraction for both domestic and international visitors.
Local officials say the new project is designed to enhance accessibility and strengthen Hasankeyf’s position as a major heritage destination. Restoration efforts at the site have included clearing debris, securing pathways and stairways, and improving lighting to ensure safe and engaging visitor access.
Once the work is complete, the cave interiors will be arranged to reflect elements of daily life from ancient periods, offering an immersive glimpse into historical dwelling traditions.
“Our goal is to protect this cultural legacy while making it meaningful for today’s visitors,” district governor Mehmet Ali İmrak said. “All restoration is carried out under official approvals, without harming the original texture.”
İmrak added that the project aims to recreate original living conditions—such as seating arrangements and everyday items—so visitors can “commemorate that day in some way.”
Hasankeyf contains more than 6,000 caves in total, and continued restoration efforts in the coming years are expected to increase visitor interest even further.
The newly prepared caves are scheduled to open to tourism by late December.

Fethiyespor Move Into Next Round as Super League Teams Join the Competition
Fethiyespor secured an impressive 4–1 win in their midweek Ziraat Cup fixture, progressing confidently to the next stage of the tournament.
Fethiyespor Drawn into Group A with Galatasaray and Trabzonspor
Fethiyespor’s group and opponents for the Ziraat Turkish Cup have been officially determined following the completion of the draw. The team has been placed in Group A, where they will face strong competition from both Super League and 1st League sides.
Fethiyespor’s scheduled matches in the group stage are as follows:
- Boluspor – Fethiyespor
- Fethiyespor – Galatasaray
- Trabzonspor – Fethiyespor

According to a report in Beşkaza Haber Bülteni, the Fethiyespor vs. Galatasaray match will be played at Muğla Atatürk Stadium, which has the capacity to host major fixtures, with the match date, kick-off time, and ticket sales details to be announced following the Turkish Football Federation’s official statement.
Fethiyespor now prepare for a challenging but exciting stage as they compete among some of Turkey’s strongest clubs.

The team’s next match will be played at home against Güzide Gebzespor on Friday, December 12. Kick-off will be at 15:00.
