Köyceğiz is a small town that perches at the northern end of a large lake, Köyceğiz Gölü, which meets the Mediterranean Sea via the Dalyan river. The main attraction here is the lake itself – brand, beautiful and serene.
Except for its small (but growing) tourist trade, Köyceğiz is a farming town producing citrus fruit, olives and honey. This region is also famous for its Oriental sweetgum (liquidambar) trees, the source of the precious petrified amber gum.
